William Shilts, Ph.D.

Dr. Shilts is an acknowledged expert in the fields of surficial materials mapping, paleoseismicity in lakes and on land, environmental and exploration geochemistry, paleogeographic reconstructions of glacial terrains, permafrost and patterned ground processes, and glacier sedimentation. He has played a leading role in evaluation of Arctic pipeline routing, mineral exploration in the Arctic, acid mine drainage, and led research on the natural patterns of concentrations of various trace elements in the environment, particularly mercury and arsenic.
