Completed for the University of Ottawa Heart Institute
Concentric’s geoscience group conducted Phase One and Phase Two ESAs of a 23-acre area encompassing the proposed Life Support Capital Project for the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. These ESAs were completed to O. Reg. 153/04 Record of Site Condition standards. An existing network of monitoring wells was supplemented with 32 boreholes and the installation of numerous multi-level groundwater monitoring wells and soil vapour wells. Data gathered through the Phase Two ESA was used to create a 3-D groundwater flow model of the site to assist in the prediction of likely contaminant migration and exposure pathways during the proposed construction activities. A supplementary risk evaluation study was prepared where exposure risks were identified, appropriate risk management and mitigation strategies were established. Results of the study were presented to the City of Ottawa planning department and used to support the development application and construction tendering process.
