Completed on behalf of the Government of Nunavut
Concentric Geoscience was contracted to complete a supplementary assessment of soil and water quality at a large site previously confirmed to be impacted with various elevated organic and inorganic contaminants. The supplemental assessment was focused on determining the maximum concentration of contaminants at the site and delineating the extent of impacts. A total of 25 test pits were advanced across the site, and 34 soil samples and seven water samples were submitted for analyses of selected contaminants. The supplemental assessment successfully delineated the extent of impacts and the results facilitated the completion of a Preliminary Quantitative Risk Assessment (PQRA). A detailed work plan, including contingencies for a variety of events, was developed prior to deployment to the site to compensate for potential limited communication between onsite staff and the project manager/ technical lead.
